Shalin Candelaria
MA, LCMHC-A, NCC

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (CAND-18ZUAE) and National Certified Counselor (1464299). I obtained my bachelor's degree in psychology with a minor in Spanish from the Augusta State University and I obtained my master's degree in Counseling, specialized in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, from the Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.
I was a prior internship student with Thrive Counseling & Consulting, PLLC and I completed my internship with 600 hours. In my prior job experience, I worked as a Psychology Technician at the VA Philadelphia Medical Center. During my employment as a Psychology Technician, I provided mental health services to veterans and families and I completed 300 hours of my counseling practicum.
I have served a variety of individuals with complex mental health (schizophrenia, bipolar), PTSD, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, chronic pain, neurocognitive problems, trauma brain injury, disabled veterans, and caregivers. I am trained in psychological assessments such as GAD-7, PHQ-9, C-SSRS, AUDIT-7, Illicit Drug Screen, PCL-5, BOMC, Mania Screening, and Psychosis Screening.
I am a military spouse, married for 14 years, and have three children. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, and being creative with art and music. I believe that positive relationships with ourselves help us grow and develop healthy relationships with others. I believe in the importance of fostering a healthy overall physical, emotional, and mental health by improving the ways we move, eat, rest, and cope with life stressors. I am a compassionate and empathetic professional who works collaboratively meeting the mental, emotional, and physical needs of my clients by fostering healing, hope, and resiliency.
