I received my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University in December 2020. My graduate program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling Related and Educational Programs (CACREP). I have been honored to work with clients for one year during my master’s program and have one year of clinical experience. I also completed my Doctorate of Ministry in Pastoral Counseling from Liberty University Theological Seminary in January 2011. I am a Nationally Certified Counselor and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional.
From 2008 to 2017, I served on active duty as an Army Chaplain, where I conducted over 3,000 hours providing pastoral counseling for Soldiers and their Family members dealing with marital conflict, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, moral injuries, anxiety, depression, and numerous life stressors. I continue to serve as a Chaplain in the North Carolina National Guard.
I am dedicated to providing competent and committed care for each of my clients and becoming a voice of advocacy in our community. My approach for each client is personalized and eclectic, founded on one or more theoretical principles to include: Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Narrative Therapy, Existential Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. My counseling approach recognizes the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit and actively engages the client in the helping process. I specialize in theological integration and when client-directed, I integrate the client’s faith into our work. With each client, we collaboratively set goals to make needed changes in thinking, feeling, and acting towards a fulfilling, gratifying, and purposeful life.
