The wife of a retired soldier, Monique is a former special education teacher who is now a provisionally licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFTA). Monique began her time here at Thrive in August 2015. In 2016, she graduated from Liberty University. During her internship at both Thrive and Watters Family Life Counseling & Resilience Center on Fort Bragg, Monique worked with couples, individuals, adolescents, and families. She has seen clients who have struggled with numerous situations including anxiety, panic disorder, infidelity, porn addiction, and PTSD.
Monique is basic trained in Eye-movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) and is currently working on becoming a credentialed EMDR therapist under Christopher Floro, an EMDRIA consultant and EMDR trainer. Monique has also completed an Emotion Focused Couples Therapy externship, and she is a Prepare-Enrich Facilitator. Recently accepted into a sex therapy program in Connecticut, Monique plans to begin taking courses towards becoming a sex therapist in October 2017. She seeks to specialize in therapy for those who have been sexually abused/assaulted and to help couples restore intimacy back into their marriages. She is currently the director of Thrive's Student Intern Program.
